The interplay between molecular structure and dielectric propertiesin ionic liquids: A comparative study

In this work, C2-Methylated [C3DMIM+][I?] versus C2-Protonated [C3MIM+][I?] Imidazolium-Based Ionic Liquids containing iodide anion, have been synthesized and characterized using 1H 13C NMR spectroscopy methods. order to investigate the methylation effect on thermal properties, we rely three additional analysis techniques. The behavior confirmed that methylated IL is more stable than protonated one [C3MIM+][I?].The conductivity dielectric relaxation properties of both ILs investigated in frequency range [10?2, 107 Hz] temperature ranging between ?30 °C 60 °C. Dielectric permittivity studies show substitution hydrogen atom by a methyl group has significant impact real?? imaginary ??? parts. addition, observed times for [C3MIM+][I-] showed Arrhenius-type dependence temperatures 20 ? VFT ?20 °C?, while, [C3DMIM +][I?] Vogel-Fulcher-Tamman-type entire 30 representation ?? (?, T) shows buildup electrochemical double layer interfacial effect. However real part complex follows empirical Jonscher equation. determined dc-conductivity liquids present new regarding activation an anomalous behavior. It Arrhenius relation at lower then reach steady state values higher temperatures.
